Announced this morning, Pfizer will be buying out Wyeth for a total of $68 billion cash, stocks and debt. Â
That’s right, banks have agreed to put up $22.5 billion for the Pfizer buyout of Wyeth.

I hadn’t thought of this yet, but Bank of America (NYSE:BAC, 24.40 on 10/21/2008) is now, literally, a Bank of America .  The US government owns a percentage of BAC, along with everyone in the country.  Bank of America depositors consist of about 50% of all families in the US. Â

In an amazing step forward for US policy both internally and externally, the Treasury announced it has plans to buy equity in private banks.
That’s right, the federal government will be spending part of the $700 billion bailout bill, to buy equity in private banks across the country. Â
